Here are Statto's ratings for the impressive defeat of Whitley.
1. JAY MCFARLANE (9). Kicked the ball well, but left his party piece for right at the death, with a full stretch penalty save.
2. STEVEN SUDBURY (9). Up and down the right flank all day, contributing at both ends of the pitch.
3. STEWART FURLONG (8). Solid defensivley, and used the ball well. Tired towards the end. (Withdrawn)
4. LEE COMMANDER (8). Looked bright from the start, but did give away a penalty with a clumsy tackle.
5. LEE TIRRELL (8) (Capt). Had the better of the petulant Hugo all game, but couldn't resist a little handbags in the 2nd half.
6. JOHNNY SHEPPHERD (9). An all action display in the heart of the midfield, should have scored in the 2nd half but somehow his head missed the ball ? *Statto's man of the match *
7. MICHAEL PEARCE (8). Put in a good shift in a new position for him. Looked a little lost when playing up top near the end.
8. ADAM ASHCROFT (9). Impressive debut capped by a sublime 25 yard strike 3 minutes from the end.
9. JASON HEELEY (9). Worked his little socks off and ended up with 2 well taken goals. His first inparticular was easy on the eye. Looked to have a new lease of life with a different strike partner. (Withdrawn)
10. WAYNE LAW (9). Looked just like a natural finisher, thanks to his 2 goals. I predict that Jason Heeley's run of 5 consecutive seasons as leading goalscorer may come to an end if this lad stays fit.
11. DAVID HEELEY (7). The game passed him by for long periods, but he did make a telling contribution, when his corner was glanced in by his older sibling Jay. (Withdrawn)
12. SEAN WAINWRIGHT (7). Was always involved in his 23 minute cameo.
14. ALEX HEFFRON (8). 16 year old wonder kid looked the part on his Cherrie's debut, starting on the wing and ending up at full back.
15. JEFF MCFARLANE (8). Made an instant impact thanks to his superb vision, when he set up Ashcroft for his goal.
16. BILLY BRISTOW (-). Not used.
