As yet another 'Legends Night Out' nears, everyone's favourite tipster John 'Get on my bushy sideburns' McCririck is providing odds on the first Legend to call that cab for home.
Any and all bets are welcome, last bets to be placed by 12:00 noon on Saturday 2nd November (this will weed out any late non-runners - I'm looking at Gus here!)
We'll proceed from the favourite down to the outsiders, feel free to add information as needed to keep the punters informed.
1. Ian 'Shandyman' Mackenzie - 6/4 - Always produces the goods on any night out, particularly short odds this time due to a 'driving' rumour. A safe each way bet to be home by 9pm.
2. Peter 'Baby Face' Dodd - 7/4 - A very warm return to the track for this constitutionally weak sub-goalie. Another 'singing on the bus home' show is a string possibility (Oh Paaaaar-bold, oh we love Parbold oh ...)
3. Paul 'Shit Knees' Mackenzie - 2/1 - A few pints and this weak-kneed wide man is a certain early faller. Very rarely sees past midnight these days.
4. Michael 'Pubby' Pearce - 11/4 - A thinking man's drinker. On his day can produce good form, but mostly he's tucked up this side of 12.
5. Peter 'Funboy' Duffy - 5/1 - With an ever growing legion of siblings this stalwart could be on for a quick finish. When running well though will stick around until late on.
6. Billy 'The Assistant' Bristow - 6/1 - With a flury of good work over the last few weeks this previously light drinker has developed a thirst for the good life. A late appearance may also help his cause.
7.Ste '007' Fleming - 7/1 - Always managed to last the course in years gone by, more than likely to outpace and outlast his old team mates.
8. David 'LGD' Noble - 8/1 - A good outside bet. Has been known to sprint out of the blocks and stumble quickly. Looked good (obviously) when last out and should see off the competition.
9. Stewart 'The Canadian' Furlong - 8/1 - Always brings good form into a night out, lasts the pace well. Only question is whether falls elsewhere my see him leave too.
10. Jason '3, rising to 9, bites' Heeley - 9/1 - Good stamina and a sturdy pace setter. Should see the end of the night barring a poor performance (of which he's had plenty).
11. Chris 'I'll take the throw-ins' Norris - 12/1 - His slight frame belies a drinker of good stature. Widely travelled and ran throughout the UK and beyond, will do well back on home soil.
12. Lee 'Wildman' Tirrell - 14/1 - The real deal. Likes a drink and isn't afraid of taking anyone on. And I do mean Anyone (Terry O'Brien).
13. Alan 'Big Al' Reddin - 20/1 - This man can bevvy. We've all seen it. No need to go through his pedigree. Will stick around long into the night.
14. David 'Party Politics' Ainsworth - 20/1 - Another fine example of drink. Is capable of 'dismounting' when the mood takes him, but more then likely he'll see the finish line.
15. Tommy 'So bad he's' Good - 33/1 - Every weekend this thoroughbred produces. Almost certain to cross the line, quite possibly after everyone else.
16. Jay 'Bigman' McFarlane - 50/1 - The sheer frame of this man mountain will get him through. A very good chance to see off all comers.
17. Jeff 'The statue' McFarlane - 50/1 - As long as he stays away from beers, Jeff will probably still be drinking on Monday.
