As you know, Parbold are looking to obtain their first peice of silverware since inception. Golborne are the only serious threat to stop the greatest Cherries side in this generation to have a chance of doing this.
Parbold's run in is as follows -
Sunday 2nd April - Belle Green (a) 2.30pm
Thursday 13th April - Ben Johnson Blues (a) 6.30pm
Sunday 16th April - Wiganers (h) 11.30am
Sunday 23rd April - GOLBORNE ALBION (a) 11.30am
Thursday 27th April - Leigh Red Brick (h) 6.30pm
Compared to Golborne's
Sunday 2nd April - Leigh Red Brick (a) 11.30am
Thursday 6th April - Portland (h) 6.30pm
Sunday 9th April - Ben Johnson Blues (h) 2.30pm
Thursday 13th April - Wigan Panthers (h) 6.30pm
Sunday 23rd April - PARBOLD (h) 2.30pm
* Thursday 27th April/Sunday 7th May - Wigan Cosmo's (h) 6.30pm/2.30pm
* Golborne's final league fixture appears twice on the South Lancs website. I am currently finding out the date of their final fixture.
Firstly, I believe Parbold can win every game, as long as they focus. Each opponent, with the exception of Golborne, are outside of the top five (closest rivals are Wiganers who are 13 points adrift) and Parbold are capable of beating anyone in their current form.
Looking at Golborne's remaining fixtures, they are at home for their final five games of the season, where they have lost only one game from eight on their own territory, scoring a credible 34 goals. However, they do have to play a resiliant Portland side who gave Parbold problems and have picked up in the league recently. They also face Wigan Panthers, who if they were to win their two games in hand on Parbold, would only be six points off the promotion places.
This run in should keep both Parbold and Golborne on their toes, and with it all to play for, there could be a few more twists and turns in this promotion push. Wigan Panthers should not be discounted and could seriously enter the fray with a victory over Albion, pushing Parbold to the end.
Men. Let battle commence.
