Agenda
1. Management/Team Selection
All present thanked George and Jeff for their work in what everyone acknowledges as a difficult job. Discussed trying to keep a settled team whenever possible and also the fact that players who don't show consistancy in turning up each week should not have a divine right to walk back into the side. Mentioned a couple of games in particular and the last game of the season was apologised for as management not aware of the situation regarding relegation. Everyone agreed that George & Jeff are doing a good job in what are very difficult circumstances but it was unanimously decided that Billy Bristow will assist them next season in team selection. George remains as manager, Jeff as Assistant Manager, Billy will work without a title.
2. Running of the club off the pitch
Paul MacKenzie and Jay MacFarlane were thanked for their efforts this season and told everyone of the state of the club in monetary terms at the moment. The following was decided:
a. Michael Pearce to take over from Paul as club treasurer - Paul will offer assistance when necessary.
b. Jay to remain as club secretary.
c. Subs will now be paid before the game as this will avoid chasing for money after the game and being able to pay the referee quickly. Everyone pays £3 and then those who are subs or do not get on will get money back at the end of the game.
d. The signing on fee of £35 will now have to be paid in full by the first league game of the 2008-9 season, anyone who has not paid by then will not get selected until they have done so. This was unanimously agreed upon.
It was felt that 'd' has been an issue where some players have not paid signing on fees. Everyone agreed that the new rule will prevent this.
3. Helping out on match day
This point was raised as some players felt it was left to them to get the pitch etc. ready for each game while others don't help. Everyone agreed that this needs to change. Everyone will now help in putting up nets, posts, flattening playing surface (or molehills) etc. It was also agreed that there will be a rota (done as a tick list) for washing the kit. This ensures that everyone pitches in and helps out with the general running of the club on a week to week basis.
4. Players
Everyone at the meeting has confirmed they are signing on next season (with the exception of Paul MacKenzie). From last season's playing staff, only Mark Lawson has confirmed they will not be signing. It was decided that any new players can be brought down to pre-season and see how they do (as is normally the case anyway).
5. Training
Paul MacKenzie has volunteered to take actual training sessions during pre-season, this will be discussed nearer the time. Ian Mackenzie and Chris Norris have both voiced concerns over fitness and wondered about setting up 5-a-side through the week during the season. However, this was rejected as players have other commitments. Therefore, pre-season will consist of a couple of games between the squad before 4/5 pre-season friendlies to be arranged nearer the time.
6. Website
Peter Dodd asked everyone for their opinions on the website and the reasons why it stopped in the first place. Some thought that the ratings caused issues although this was decided to be fun and not to be taken too seriously. The website will be back up and running although will be through the web-teams page rather than parboldfc.co.uk as this domain has been taken. Peter Dodd will pay the £15 fee and this will be subtracted from his signing on fee. Everyone agreed that the website has been a positive influence on the team over the past years and were looking forward to it re-starting.
7. New pitch
Jeff MacFarlane said that he had received an offer to play at Abbey Lane for next season. This will work out as much cheaper than Alder Lane and will provide changing rooms, showers and a pitch cut and marked free of charge. The issue of moving from Alder Lane was discussed and it was decided that Jeff would apply to Abbey Lane and if we are accepted then every member of Parbold F.C. will vote on what we are to do.
8. Any other issues
Jeff MacFarlane suggested another race night as the last one proved so popular so this will go ahead. Stewy Furlong proposed to hold one before the season begins so that the funds are raised early. Also a Euro 2008 sweep will be organised by Ian MacKenzie, £10 each gets you an envelope and the envelopes are opened at the end of the tournament. £50 to the winner, £30 to runner up, £10 to the the worst team statistically in the group stages. The rest goes to club funds.
